KC- Not only came out of the cold... but brought presents!
Cat Morales |
Texas is
hot...most of the time... if your not trying to help animals
survive the heat... depending upon where you live in Texas...
your trying to help them survive the cold. Almost every
year there are a handful of days where the temperature drops
below freezing.. potential danger to plants and animals
alike. I often had strays in my yard or visiting my porch
or plants to shelter from bad weather.
One small feral female decided that this was going to be
her permanent home under my plants and on my porch.
The weather was predicted to freeze. I was worried.
I couldn't catch her so I opened the garage about 8 inches
and placed a bowl of water inside. It worked... and
she refused to leave the garage when the cold was over!
So I fed her, and slowly got her to trust me. Took her
to the vets to spay her... nope.
Soon we had a family of 6 (momma and 5 little ones).
When the time came she was spayed and
2 of her kittens were adopted the other 3 by my children!
(Like I said... I'm a sucker).
Kitty cat (K.C.) went from the garage to the house.
She adjusted well to people but hated being picked up.
She didn't feel in control. After 3 years of patience
we can hold her and love her just like the others. She
is a permanent part of the family...
who could resist those eyes?
